We made it safe and sound to Europe. We haven't had much internet while we've been here, so my plans for blogging/updating along the way kind of went out the window! In a way, I'm kind of grateful...it means we have more time to explore. :)
We flew into Geneva, dropped off our stuff at the apartment and then caught a plane to Berlin. We're headed to Copenhagen tonight. We're staying with the lovely Brittany of The House The Lars Built. From there, we're headed to the UK where we're staying with the talented Kjrsten of Kjrsten Madsen Photography. Any tips or favorite places in Copenhagen or the UK, let us know! We've got a place set up for a quick trip to Bath, but other than that our plans are pretty flexible!
Hopefully we'll have internet again soon! In the meantime, feel free to follow along on our instagram account: @amandajanejones.

ReplyDeletehang on a minute when you went to the flea market in Berlin and took a shot of that vintage cutleries did you arrange it neatly before taking a pic or was it already like that when you took the picture? ha ha ha.

ReplyDeleteCambridge, UK is amazing. Maybe I'm biased, since I live in a little village nearby, but it is lovely. Think gorgeous university buildings, so much green space, quirky little shops if you walk down the sidestreets, amazing museums... And it's only a train-ride away from London, if you wanted to visit for a day whilst staying with Kjrsten!
ReplyDeleteLondon has some great things: Hopefully the weather stays lovely for you. My favourite things to do: Columbia Road Market on a sunday (Campania Gastronomia does a wicked mozarella sundried tomato panini); Gelupo Gelateria on Archer Street in Soho is totally amazing; a visit to any of the art museums - all free; a stroll along the Southbank ... I could go on. Enjoy.

ReplyDeleteYou may not be in Copenhagen anymore, but that was one of my very favorite places. It is quite possible though that for my case it was because the philosopher I study is from there. I loved seeing his house, and gravesite, etc., as well as the Little Mermaid statue, and all of the lovely statues in general. It is such a nice city with the most amazing public transportation (and bike lanes!) to boot.

Brick Lane Market (and Labour and Wait and Comfort Station two boutiques at the end of the market)
Borough Market (so much delicious food!)
Libertys of London
Hampstead Heath (and Hampstead and Highgate in general)
The Spaniards (by far my favorite place to while away an afternoon with pints after a walk in the Heath)
Gordons Wine Bar (the oldest in London and in underground tunnels... great ploughmans. Just off the Strand near Trafalgar Square)
The Citie of Yorke (great old Samuel Smith pub near Holburn Station)
Neils Yard and Neils Yard Dairy (great essential oils, herbs, teas, etc... and the most delicious cheese!)
The Victoria and Albert (especially for their fashion and textiles)
Of course the Tate Britain and Modern (love to WH Turner room at the Britain.)

i loved bathe in the UK. it has a feeling of the england that i always imagined - street performers and gypsies and the hunchback of notre dame, old prisons with dates carved into the walls dating back to the 1500s! along with the oldest pub in england (the 142-something) - with very low ceilings and delicious soup. and of course it has the roman bathes! it's the one place i wouldn't miss if i went back. i hope you go and post pics!!
