Ever since Cree and I have been married, he has made sure there are fresh flowers on our kitchen table. It makes such a difference in our tiny apartment. This was the first time in a while since I've seen a little bunch as cute as this. I've always called it mimosa, but I think I'm incorrect in my assumption. Does anyone know what the name of this little beauty is?
Nature is pretty amazing.
hi there! i just found your blog through carissa + andrew's blog. you've curated such a lovely space here -- such beautiful and interesting photography. (i really love the michigan shirt you designed with ambrose.)
ReplyDeletei think these flowers are called craspedia, though i've always called them billy buttons. they dry really nicely and i have a several little vases throughout my apartment. they are so bright and cheery!
oh wow! thank you for the quick response and the name! I think I want to call them billy buttons from now on. how perfect!
ReplyDeleteAlso welcome to the blog and thank you for your sweet comments!
What a great thing to stay committed too! You are absolutely right ... fresh flowers add a bit dollop of hominess and beauty to even the smallest of spaces :)

Precious! Im there.
ReplyDeleteWhatever they're called they're super cuties! So nice to always have some fresh flowers in the house!
ReplyDeleteJon always makes sure we have fresh plants as well - such a big difference!
ReplyDeletei love crespedia. i have a bundle on our mantel, but want to get more... but they are hard to find for me!
ReplyDeleteyep, craspedia or billy buttons. i had some in my wedding bouquet and my florist called them billy balls... but i prefer billy buttons for obvious reasons :)
ReplyDeleteI love the photos on your blog! Your newest follower :) Also from AA!

haha yeah, they are billy balls. perhaps buttons as well. but there are also button mums, that are somewhat similar.
ReplyDeletethese are THE BEST though because they stay just as pretty out of water. not to share the over obvious if you already know that! But if you don't just take them out before the stems get slimy and they'll stay nice and yellow sans leaves. i have them all over the house too!
xo
I have seen lots of beautiful images of these recently, I don't think they grow over here and I have never seen them in a flower shop (in Ireland) I will have to investigate. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteOne of these would look just wonderful in your braids ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! I should try it!
ReplyDeleteI would just remove the leaves (none of mine had leaves) and that's it! The will just die but stay the same. Just wipe the slime off, it will be fine!
ReplyDeleteor maybe that's just some lemon leaf they are paired with?
ReplyDeleteThat is just darn cute. He sounds like a good man.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you are just about the sweetest lady ever. Thanks for all your kindness!!
they are perfect!
ReplyDeleteFresh flowers on the table, in my house, have been deemed a necessity, not a luxury. It's amazing how much it changes the space to always have something fresh and beautiful presiding over the kitchen. :)
ReplyDeletewhat the heck. cree does this? what a keeper!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. When I was depressed and ill in that tiny London studio, having fresh flowers around made my imprisonment seem more like a choice haha. You look so cute in your latest blog post, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI need to figure out how to get my husband to do the same. Seeing pretty flowers around my home is like a cheap (but safe) drug. They make me feel all sorts of happy.
