It is banned books week. The law school is hosting a banned book reading. A couple of Cree's professors are reading exerts from To Kill a Mocking Bird, Catcher in the Rye, and Twilight. It really breaks my heart that To Kill a Mocking Bird is banned. Whenever anyone asks what my favorite book is, it is always the first thing that pops out of my mouth.

It was one of the first of many books my mama ever read to me as a little girl. She did all the voices, but says that I would tell her she didn't have to. It was also the first book Cree and I ever read out loud together. I still remember looking over and seeing a little tear in Cree's eye when we read about the courtroom audience standing for Atticus. It gives me chills just thinking about how powerful that part of the book is.

I found the image above from GOOD magazine's site about banned books. I've never read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but it sure has a pretty rad cover.

Found some new fabric at the antique store down the street. The top one is so bright and tacky that I love it. I have no clue what I'll use it for. My sewing skills aren't that great, but I'm in the mood to experiment.

Speaking of experimenting, yesterday on my blog read I discovered this lovely post. The blog is Snap + Tumble and I am loving her letterpressed muslin. Beautiful no? Cute, cute, cute! I think I might have to try it out on the Vandercook.

Alright, so before you go all crazy thinking I designed these fantastic little gems...let me tell you that I didn't. I have however been asked to design the 2010 equivalent at work. The Once Festival was started in Ann Arbor in the 1960's. Lots of innovative musicians and artists would come from all over, even internationally.

Well, they are having a revival festival called Once. More.. It is going to be a pretty incredible event. I'm designing the program guide which is about 89 pages. Crazy right? So much is going into this festival to make it awesome. I'm pretty thrilled about it. That said, my boss is out of town for two weeks in Italy which means I'm lone woman at the office. On one hand it is awesome...I can listen to whatever music I want and it is super calm just by myself. On the other hand, I have lots too do. I take for granted the fact that my boss always answers the phone and responds to e-mails...all I have to do is design. I have been shocked at how much busier my days get when I'm in charge. Perspective is a funny thing. I pulled a 12 hour day at work in addition to seminary. Cree thinks that means I should take off early on Friday. I think that sounds like a grrreat idea.

Anywho, for now just enjoy these awesome images. Each is a program from a different event back in the 60's. Don't you love how the grid is so small on the accordion folded program? I can't show the front because there might be a woman in her birthday suit....these people liked nudity. I still like how they structured everything, the grid, the fonts, the colors. I find it all very inspiring. I hope my interpretation can do it justice. I'm having a hard time finding something that says 1960 and 2010...but we are getting there. :)

These photos are from a roll of film Cree took in Baltimore. A friend's apartment had caught on fire...these were taken after the fact. I'm so grateful I've never had to experience a real fire. I once caught our cutting board on fire...but that is about the extent it. Thank goodness.

A couple weeks ago we had a "bike" day. We used S.O.S pads to get all the rust off the wheels, we greased the chains, tightened the brakes, blew up all the tires. (Sadly, I SOS'ed the Schwinn Twinn logo off of our tandem...I almost cried.) The result?  A new family tradition: Saturday morning bike rides! Our bodies automatically get up so early now with our 4:30AM seminary alarm, we figured rather than laying in bed wishing we wouldn't automatically wake up at 5AM, we could make use of the extra time.

We have been so used to simply cruising on our tandem, we decided it was time to get some real exercise. We both switched to our ten speeds for the time being.  It took me a full hour to get used to riding a ten speed. I've been a cruiser for the past four years, so it was a bit of an adjustment. I had an itch on my face for the first two miles of our initial ride, but was too scared I'd wobble off the road, I left it.

Anyway, we love our new tradition. Saturday morning sunrises with Cree are the bees knees.

Beautiful Idaho. Cree took these. I think I might frame one. We are in the process of buying our holiday flights this week. We are spending Christmas with the Jones family in Burley! It will be my first Idaho Christmas. I know it will be a treat. I hope there is snow.

Mmmmm....Farmer's Market produce is always so much better than store bought.

Cree had a brilliant idea a couple weeks ago. We always say that we need to explore Ann Arbor more, but we are so limited on time. Well after work/school on Fridays we have started going on short walks around downtown. We each take turns picking the section of town we explore, then we just walk until we see something intriguing. We have found a new record store, a fantastic used book store (photos above), an awesome tutoring clinic which I think we both will begin volunteering at soon and a fantastic new cafe.  I can't wait to see what we will find this week. I love exploring. I also love Ann Arbor.

I think all of my photos will be out of order for about the next month...but that's what happens when you take a month off the internet.

This was from my birthday dinner. In Ann Arbor you can get dinner and dessert for free. Yum!

Ok. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. I used better tape and tightened the roll on the inside, but they still come out looking crazy blurry and off center. Maybe the Holga just isn't for me....remember last time? Kind of a joke.
