Good news everyone!  Cree and I bought our tickets to the Philippines this weekend! It is official.  We will be gone for three months, living in Sorsogon City.  Cree has an internship with Innovations for Poverty Action through his Professor here at the University of Michigan.  He is going to be working with People's Alternative Livelihood Foundation of Sorsogon, Inc. (PALFSI), which is a non-government organization that provides microfinance services to the poor.  He will be doing research/running data/etc.  I have been asked to help with some projects.  Part of PALFSI's goal is to provide a way for women to make money.  They have taught women in the area to weave beautiful baskets among other things.  They have asked me to design an identity for their new product lines.  I am more than thrilled and honored with the opportunity.

We are so excited.  We feel like this internship is just tailor made for him.  He speaks tagalog and knows many people in the country from his mission.  I'm excited that I get the opportunity to spend time where Cree devoted two years of his.  Every time I think about our summer, I smile.

This made me giggle for a good five minutes.

My family came to visit last weekend! It was so fun. They drove (12 hours) up on Friday and Will gave us a fantastic piano concert...he even sang and played Phantom of the Opera for us. I was so impressed. Such a beautiful voice. Saturday we played tennis (I'm not so hot at action shots), toured the school/work, ate at Zingerman's Deli, downed 2 boxes of girls scout cookies, played Careers, ate smores and watched Ghost Town. (I laugh til I cry every time) Sunday they accompanied us to church, took a walk through the woods behind our house and watched (although the boys didn't want to) two episodes of Gilmore Girls...made mama and I feel nostalgic, ate hummus and flat bread, then played take two and careers again. It was a short weekend, but jam packed full of fun. I'm so lucky to have such a sweet and fun family. The nicest thing is though, if we would have had to clean toilets all weekend...we still would have had fun together. I'm one lucky gal. We sure missed Samuel though. Argentina is lucky to have him.
This album has been on repeat at our house.

yessss! mmmm...i can't wait.

I realized I have never posted about my friend Alpha's photography before. You can view her website here and her blog here.  I think her work is exquisite.  I've been coveting the globe print ever since I saw it up in her senior show.
Today I searched Amanda Jones...just for fun.

There is a Rolling Stones song called Miss Amanda Jones.
amandajones.com is a pet photographer.
26 year old Amanda Jones is missing.
This Amanda Jones was an inventor.
This one is a DJ.
This Amanda Jones was Miss USA.
Apparently Amanda Jones is also in Some Kind of Wonderful.

The list went on and on.  Amanda Cockriel was much easier to find.

Brooke over at Claremont Road sent me link to NPR where you can listen to the whole Volume Two album.  I jumped for joy.

At work, we are contemplating using an illustrator for a magazine project we are doing.  We've become quite smitten with Leigh Wells.  She really does a lovely job not only with illustration, but type as well.  So pretty....

Cree came back from the Philippines smelling like summer and bearing gifts! Stabilo pens for his lonely wife. It was so good to have him back and the pens are fun too. Apparently they are a big deal, but I've been oblivious to them. I recently ran out of all my MUJI pens, so maybe these will be my new favorite.

Oh my oh my! She + Him just came out with their new music video AND tour dates!! Guess who is coming to Michigan??!? Yup, but it is in June. We are hypothetically going to be in the Philippines then. Cree will for sure...my boss is still determining my summer's fate. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't have to spend months by myself. I think don't think my heart could stand it.

In anticipation of Cree's spring break departure, my mom sent me the Cranford Series on DVD.  It took me a while to start them, but once I did I couldn't stop.  I stayed up until 11:00 last night (and as everyone knows, my bedtime is usually 9:30 sharp)!!  It was so sweet and wholesome; I just ate it up.  The little old ladies were the cutest thing.  I just wanted to hug them all.  Tonight I plan to watch the sequel called Return to Cranford.  I can tell Friday will be a sleepy day for me.

Just got the sneek peek to Volume Two
I practically squealed with pure joy just hearing the first couple chords.  I can't wait to get the rest!!!
I can make it through the week now.
Tomorrow he heads to the coast!
More meetings...
and to swim with whale sharks...
and to see where he will be interning this summer.

At work, I've at the opportunity to design a book called Builder's Apprentice.  The reviews are coming in and people seem to really enjoy the novel.  It should be published in the next month or so. I also designed the book interior, so I'm excited to see it all finished and bound.  I'll have to post photos when it is all complete, but for the time being you can find it here on Amazon...neat huh?
Don't forget to keep voting!
My dear friend Shelby sent me a link to this lovely lady...Melody Gardot.  Oh my.  I could listen to her all day.  Thanks for sharing Shelbs!
